DPP HANDS OVER VEHICLES TO STAFF TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY NATIONWIDE
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on September 24, 2026, handed over motor vehicles to ODPP staff serving in various stations across Uganda as part of efforts to improve their working conditions and enhance service delivery.
The vehicle handover ceremony took place at the Resident State Attorney’s office in Nakawa. Speaking at the handover ceremony, the DPP, Mr. Lino Anguzu, appreciated the President of the Republic of Uganda, Parliament, and the Ministry of Finance for their support in facilitating the acquisition of the vehicles. He said the initiative was intended to improve staff mobility and, ultimately, enable prosecutors to provide more responsive and effective services to the public.
The Permanent Secretary of the ODPP, Ms. Agnes Kainza Nzogi noted that the institution’s fleet had grown to more than 130 vehicles following the acquisition. She said 80 percent of the 32 newly purchased vehicles had been allocated to upcountry stations, particularly hard-to-reach areas such as Maracha, Yumbe, and Kalangala, among others.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the vehicles strictly for official duties, observe the Public Service Standing Orders and road safety regulations, and ensure that the vehicles contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of justice.
Among the recipients were Resident State Attorneys (RSAs) from Fort Portal, Rubirizi, Mityana, Kiboga, Kyotera, Budaka, and Bugiri.
A vehicle was also provided to support the officers who handle Parish Development Model (PDM) cases and the ongoing anti-corruption campaign.
The RSA Kiryandongo also received a vehicle to facilitate movement to handle cases in the refugee camps in the district.
The handover of the vehicles marks a significant step in the ODPP’s efforts to strengthen the capacity of its staff and improve access to justice across the country. With enhanced mobility, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, the vehicles are expected to facilitate timely prosecution services, improve staff responsiveness, and contribute to more efficient and effective delivery of justice to the people of Uganda.
